The beauty of non-perfectness
Daniel Falk | eyetrip
“Why are we sometimes so scared of doing the wrong thing? I am speaking from the perspective of a film-maker. Many times I have experienced the urge to control, to plan ahead and to make no mistakes. I think it is one of the fiercest obstructions to unleashing our potential.
A large part of film making is a creative, artistic act. There are some tools that one needs to acquire, also some rules of thumb that won’t harm. But to create really meaningful, new and inspiring content, space for experiment and spontaneity is essential. Beauty is created by deviations from the perfect. It requires a lot of trust to find that space: Trust into people, trust into uncertainty and trust into the beauty of non-perfectness.
Let us take a step away from optimized processes and canned procedures. Let things flow free. Because if the world is too perfect, there is no space for beauty.”
